Upon entering the museum, guests will immediately come face-to-face with a life-size 2D representation of an ancient aquatic dinosaur poised to make an attractive photo op. Before learning about the massive Plesiosaurus dinosaur, visitors will find an assortment of graphic displays, reader-rails, and tactile flip panels discussing the Western Interior Seaway. These exhibits will teach guests about the origins and geology of the WIS and reveal its fascinating history. The WIS exhibit concludes by discussing the wide range of ancient aquatic wildlife that once lived in the shallow waters that covered Cedar Hill.

Upon returning to the Plesiosaurus dinosaur, guests can explore this apex predator along with other ancient sea life that lurked in the WIS near Cedar Hill. A small reader-rail beneath the Plesiosaurus houses three push-buttons revealing interesting facts about the large carnivore (i.e., How many vertebrae are in its neck or a look inside it’s stomach to see what it eats). A small exhibit case above the rail presents a gastrolith that was discovered by Mr. TJ Tidwell, found in the stomach of a Plesiosaurus in Cedar Hill in 1938.
